Biography

Dr. Janelle Sventek is a behavioral optometrist who has a passion for pediatrics, vision development, and visual therapy. Dr. Sventek was born and raised in Naples, Florida and completed her Bachelor of Science at Saint Leo University and Doctor of Optometry degree at University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry.

Dr. Sventek pursued an additional year of education after optometry school and completed a residency specializing in the areas of pediatrics, vision therapy, myopia management, acquired brain injury/concussion, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. She enjoys working with adults and children who suffer from oculomotor dysfunction, binocular vision dysfunction, accommodative disorders, and much more. She is the recipient of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy.

She has served on numerous mission trips in the United States and internationally with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). Her favorite memory from her time in optometry school was raising a guide dog for the blind. In her spare time, Dr. Sventek enjoys making homemade pasta, hiking national and state parks, volunteering with the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program, and traveling to new cities.

She stays involved with the optometry profession by maintaining memberships with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Optometric Extension Program, Illinois Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry.
